MANILA— The Department of Justice (DOJ) on Wednesday placed 16 members of the Aegis Jvris fraternity under an immigration lookout bulletin order for alleged involvement in the hazing death of University of Santo Tomas (UST) law freshman Horacio Tomas Castillo III.

Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II said their inclusion in the bulletin is meant to ensure that the persons of interest remain within the DOJ's jurisdiction while the case is under investigation.

The bulletin tasks immigration officers to be on the lookout for the listed individuals should they pass immigration counters. The bulletin, however, does not bar those listed from leaving the country.

The following are fraternity members named in the lookout bulletin:

1. Arvin Balag
2. Mhin Wei Chan
3. Marc Anthony Ventura
4. Axel Munro Hipe
5. Oliver John Audrey Onofre
6. Joshua Joriel Macabili
7. Jason Adolfo Robinos
8. Ralph Trangia
9. Ranie Rafael Santiago
10. Danielle Hans Mattew Rodrigo
11. Carl Mattew Villanueva
12. Aeron Salientes
13. Marcelino Bagtang
14. Zimon Padro
15. Jose Miguel Salamat
16. John Paul Solano

Earlier, the Manila Police District (MPD) said Solano, the one who brought Castillo's body to the hospital, has been considered a primary suspect.

Castillo had told his parents he was attending the welcoming rites of the Aegis Jvris fraternity at the UST campus late Saturday but never made it home.

Solano was the one initially reported to have found Castillo's bloodied body on a sidewalk in Balut, Tondo and brought the latter to the Chinese General Hospital, where the 22-year-old was declared dead.

MPD District Director Supt. Joel Coronel said Solano gave conflicting statements during the investigation.

Solano reportedly claimed during police questioning that he did not know Castillo. But a CCTV footage retrieved by authorities showed him and Castillo walking with other frat members on Dapitan Street, Sampaloc, Manila near the UST campus before the incident.

The National Bureau of Investigation has already launched a probe into Castillo's death, a hazing incident that again put the spotlight on fraternities and their culture of hazing.

UST meanwhile said it has launched a separate investigation and has suspended all members of the Aegis Jvris fraternity.
