MANILA - A crime watchdog slammed the country's "slow and rotten" justice system anew after a person of interest in the San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan massacre was killed.

Dante Jimenez, chairman of the Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption (VACC), said the kind of justice system in the country forces kin of crime victims to take the law into their own hands.

"Maraming interested groups diyan, persons who want to take the law into their own hands. Kasi 'yung process ng justice system, napakabulok, napakabagal, corrupt pa," he told DZMM Wednesday.

(There are a lot of groups who are interested in these cases, who want to take the law into their own hands. This is because the justice system is so rotten, so slow, and corrupt.)

Jimenez made the statement after the body of alias "Inggo," one of the alleged cohorts of suspect Carmelino Ibañez, was found dead yesterday in Barangay Sto. Cristo.

"Wake-up call dapat ito sa judicial system natin. Kami experience namin sa mga massacre 5 years, 10 years [inaabot ang kaso]," added Jimenez, whose group closely monitors the case in Bulacan.

(This should be a wake-up call for the people in our judicial system. In out experience, massacre cases take 5 to 10 years.)

The body of Inggo sustained stab wounds. There were marks of torture on his body and he was strangled with a pump belt. A sign that read "Addict at Rapist ako Huwag Tularan" was left on the body.

(I'm an addict. Don't emulate me.)

Ibañez already surrendered to the police, while one of his alleged cohorts, alias Tony, who previously surfaced to the authorities is now missing.

Jimenez said police should investigate the killing of Inggo to make sure the one killed is not just a fall guy. He also demanded a full background check of all persons of interest in the massacre case.

"Baka dumami ang ganyan, those who take the law into their own hands. Tingnan nila 'yan. Kung may witness na puwedeng mag-complain sa VACC, you're welcome. Patingnan natin baka mamaya fall guy 'yan,," he said.

(The police should look at this before more people take the law into their own hands. If there are witnesses who want to file complaints, you're welcome in VACC. We'll help you. Maybe the man killed is just a fall guy.)
