MANILA — President Rodrigo Duterte on Saturday flashed his gun to send a message to those who threaten to "destroy" the country.

"Do not destroy my country because I will really kill you at totoo talaga 'yan," Duterte said as he lifted his shirt to show the holstered firearm during a speech at the 50th founding anniversary of Davao del Norte.

At the same event, Duterte emphasized his policy not to negotiate with terrorists as government troops continue to battle the Maute group in Marawi City.

"I will never, never compromise with the terrorists," he said. "Walang ideology 'yan. They have corrupted Islam. Wala kayong makuha sa kanilang nationalism.”
