Makailang ulit tinawag ni Supreme Court (SC) Associate Justice Teresita De Castro na "sinungaling" at "mahilig manloko" ang pinatalsik na chief justice na si Maria Lourdes Sereno.

"[A] pattern of lies and deceptions characterized respondent's [Sereno] conduct," aniya.

Ito ang nilalaman ng concurring opinion ni De Castro sa majority decision ng SC en banc na pumabor sa quo warranto petition, dahilan para matanggal sa puwesto si Sereno.

Unang pinasinungalingan ni De Castro ang umano'y pag-uusap nila ni Sereno kung saan sinabi daw ni De Castro na "hindi niya mapapatawad" ito sa pagkuha ng posisyon bilang chief justice.

Isa ang umano'y pag-uusap sa naging basehan ni Sereno para tawaging "biased" si De Castro at dapat mag-inhibit sa pagdedesisyon sa quo warranto petition.

"Respondent's accusation against me is but a figment of her imagination. She lied once again as she did many times even under oath without remorse or guilt feelings," ayon kay De Castro.

Itinanggi rin niyang "bitter" siya dahil nasungkit ni Sereno ang posisyon ng chief justice, kahit na di hamak na mas junior si Sereno sa kaniya.

"I have been publicly maligned and accused to be bitter about not being appointed as Supreme Court chief justice...For years now, respondent and I have had a generally professional relationship...The disagreements between respondent and me are clearly not personal but work-related," paliwanag ng mahistrado.

Si De Castro ang itinuturing noon na mahigpit na kaalitan ni Sereno sa loob ng Korte.

Na-appoint si Sereno noong 2012 sa kaniyang ika-2 taon pa lamang sa SC, at na-bypass niya ang ilang mas matatagal nang mahistrado, na naging ugat umano ng tensiyon sa pagitan ni Sereno at iba pa.

Biyernes nang paboran ng walong justices ang quo warranto at sinabing walang karapatan si Sereno na maupo sa Korte Suprema dahil sa kawalan ng integridad dulot ng "kulang-kulang" na pinasang SALN.
