MANILA - (UPDATE) Regulators on Friday placed under preventive suspension the entire fleet of a bus company involved in a road accident in Occidental Mindoro that killed at least 19 people.

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board suspended the operations of 118 buses of Dimple Star for 30 days, its official document said.

The LTFRB earlier suspended 10 Dimple Star buses plying the San Jose, Occidental Mindoro to Manila route.

The new suspension order stems from supposed violations found when the agency inspected the bus terminal, such as the lack of shade and seating for passengers and lack of separate comfort rooms for males and females.

The LTFRB also found that the terminal did not have a priority lane, communication facility, and appropriate signage for its clients.

Regulators ordered Dimple Star to have its buses checked for road-worthiness and its drivers and conductors undergo drug testing and driving seminar.

Nineteen people were killed while 21 others were injured after a Dimple Star bus fell into a ravine in Sablayan town late Tuesday.

Initial investigation showed that the driver lost control of the brakes while traversing the national highway. - report from Joyce Balancio, ABS-CBN News
