MANILA - A day after the government’s “low-key” People Power commemoration in Camp Aguinaldo, various protests are set in parts of the metro, with one expected to draw over 1 million people in support of President Rodrigo Duterte.

Authorities expect some 1.5 million participants for the "People's Support for Duterte's war against illegal drugs, poverty, and corruption" vigil at the Quirino Grandstand in Manila.

The Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) warned commuters and motorists that the pro-Duterte protest, happening 5:00 pm, will cause heavy traffic around the area.

Traffic will also be congested at EDSA north-bound, where EDSA Revolution celebrations continued Saturday, kicking off with a wreath laying ceremony at the People Power Monument. Road closures include White Plains Northbound, EDSA Ortigas Service Road south-bound, according to MMDA.

Various groups are also expected to converge at the People Power monument and EDSA Shrine Saturday afternoon to commemorate the popular revolt that ousted dictator Ferdinand Marcos.

Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (Bayan) and other civic groups expect hundreds to attend.

Manila Archdiocese Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle earlier urged parishes to organize public prayer events to commemorate the EDSA revolution.

In a circular issued Thursday, Tagle told parishes to organize, if they wish, processions, rosary rallies, and prayer worship to remember People Power.

Malacanang led a low-key commemoration, saying the anniversary was a time to reflect. At Friday's event in Camp Aguinaldo, key personalities in the bloodless revolution such as former president Fidel V. Ramos, former senators Juan Ponce Enrile and Gregorio Honasan recalled their respective roles.

President Rodrigo Duterte and former president Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III skipped the event.
