MANILA - American actor Lee O'Brian revealed that his girlfriend, actress-comedienne Pokwang, is now seven weeks pregnant.

In a phone interview with ABS-CBN News on Friday, O'Brian said they only found out that Pokwang is expecting their first baby last Saturday.

"We found out last Saturday. She was super happy, I was super happy, too. Sobrang masaya, I prayed for this," he said.

According to O'Brian, Pokwang, who is now 44, was advised to take a full bed rest.

"She's doing well. She's resting. She's currently at seventh week and required to do bed rest. I don't know for how many weeks but I know she's withdrawn from all of her shows or commitments," he said.

The "Ang Probinsyano" actress, according to O'Brian, is expected to give birth in February next year.

He added: "If it's going to be a boy, definitely we'll have a first name of William because of my family. That will be a definite first name and we're going to see about the second name, we're not sure. If it's a girl, I can't really say right now. We might name her after her mom, but we don't know."

More than anything, O'Brian said that their priority now is the baby, noting that they previously had a miscarriage.

"Right now we are actually trying to get a few months down the road. As you know, we lost one two years ago. Literally, I just want to get to eight weeks, then get to three months, then get to you know, month by month. It's very delicate with a 44-year-old woman," he said.

When asked if they're planning to get married, O'Brian replied: "First is the birth. I think it pretty much confirms it, but it's not immediate because first things first. We just want to make sure that the baby is born, born healthy, born well and everything is alright. You know we've lost one already."

O'Brian went on to share his message to all the fans and supporters of Pokwang.

"This is something that she wanted for a long time and she always, always loves their support and appreciates their support and loves all of them. I hope that they, too, even though she won't be on TV or movie theaters in the next few months, that they can still keep her and me in their prayers and always support her," he said.

On Thursday, reports that Pokwang is pregnant came out as talent manager Ogie Diaz congratulated the actress on social media.

Hours after the news circulated online, Pokwang thanked all her fans via a Twitter post.

"Maraming salamat sa mga natuwa sa aking pagbubuntis sa mga hindi naman try nyo maging happy sa life," she wrote.

Pokwang first confirmed her relationship with O'Brian in January 2015. The two met while working on the TFC movie "Edsa Woolworth."

The actress already has a daughter with a former partner who is based in Japan.
