MANILA - Film and television icon Nora Aunor has nothing but praise for his son Ian de Leon, who was hailed as a hero after rushing an injured 10-year-old boy to a nearby hospital last March 21.

In a Facebook post, Kristine Madrigal Sarmiento, the mother of the 10-year-old boy, expressed her gratitude towards De Leon.

"He was the only one who came to the rescue of a total stranger while all the other people just passed by and looked at my bloody and [helpless] 10-year-old son, who was alone when the incident happened," she wrote.

In an interview with entertainment website Push, Aunor said: "Sobrang masaya at proud ako sa ginawa ng aking anak, siyempre bilang isang ina para sa akin isang bayani ang anak ko sa pagtulong na kanyang ginawa."

For his part, De Leon downplayed his heroics. "Nagkataon lang po siguro na nandun po ako nung nangyari ang accident, kahit sino naman po ang nasa lugar ko, gagawin rin po ang nagawa ko," he said.

De Leon is the son of showbiz veterans Nora Aunor and Christopher de Leon.
