MANILA -- The reign of Tawag ng Tanghalan defending champion Sofronio Vasquez proved to be short after he was defeated by Ethiel Baradi of Pangasinan on Tuesday.

Baradi has been dubbed the "Young Mama Diva." She has a daughter, while her husband works as a waiter in Abu Dhabi.

Baradi's father trained her to become a singer when she was eight. But when her father died, she decided to forget about her passion and move on with her life.

Baradi dethroned Vasquez with her performance of Beyonce's "Halo."
