Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo denies any hand in the impending release of convicted rapist-murderer, former Calauan Mayor Antonio Sanchez. Panelo had served as one of Sanchez's defense lawyers in the 1993 rape and murder of University of the Philippines Los Baños student Eileen Sarmenta and the slay of her companion Allan Gomez. Sanchez was convicted in 1995 and sentenced to seven 40-year terms of reclusion perpetua.
