The Medical City said Wednesday its beds for patients with the novel coronavirus are full, adding to the list of hospitals whose resources had been stretched by the pandemic.

The hospital has 90 beds for COVID-19 patients, including 16 beds at the intensive care unit, said chief medical officer Dr. Rafael Claudio.

(Our bed capacity allocated for COVID patients is currently full.)

(We can add more beds for those with COVID, but the critical issue is whether or not we can accommodate them if their condition gets serious, critical, and they need the ICU.)

In March and April, some patients had to stay at the emergency room due to bed shortage, he said.

It is difficult to transfer patients to other hospitals because many are also full, said the doctor.
