The National Bureau of Investigation said Monday it was investigating a rape threat against Frankie Pangilinan, who started the #HijaAko online movement that sought to end sexual violence against women in the Philippines.

Pangilinan's mother, actress Sharon Cuneta, posted on Instagram on Saturday an alleged quote from a certain Sonny Alcos who threatened to rape her teenage daughter.

The incident could be deemed as light threat or unjust vexation, which is punishable by up to 12 years in prison under the Cybercrime Prevention Act, he said.
