The local municipal government of Castillejos, Zambales, the epicenter of a powerful quake that rumbled across Luzon, has yet to receive a report of fatalities or major damage to property, its mayor said Tuesday.

At least 11 people were killed across Luzon when the magnitude-6.1 tremor set buildings swaying on Monday afternoon, the disaster agency said.

"Awa ng Diyos, bagama't dito ang epicenter, wala po kaming reported casualties and no major damage in property," said Castillejos Mayor Jose Angelo Dominguez.

(With God's mercy, even though the epicenter was recorded here, we have not received any report of casualties or major damage in property.)

Power and communication lines were working in the town about 100 kilometers northwest of Manilak, and its main highway did not crack, he added.

Tuesday's classes were suspended in the entire province, the mayor noted.
