Who dropped off nearly P900 million worth of "floating cocaine" bricks in Philippine waters?

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency said Tuesday it has coordinated with 55 countries and found that floating cocaine hauls were seized only in the Philippines.

"Sa ngayon, blanko pa po ang PDEA, blanko po ang even the US DEA and the countries na nakapag-communicate tayo," agency director Aaron Aquino told radio DZMM.

(For now, PDEA, even the US DEA and the countries we communicated with have drawn a blank.)

"Tayo lang po ang mayroong ganyan. Even the US DEA told me that it's a mystery. Hindi rin po nila mabigyan ng tamang assessment kung bakit po nagkakaroon ng floating cocaine."

(Only the Philippines has that incident, even the US DEA told me that it's a mystery. They, too, can't give a proper assessment on why there are floating cocaine packages.)

PDEA suspects that the Philippines was used as a transshipment point for the cocaine packages that could have been bound for China, Hong Kong, Australia, which have booming demands for the narcotics, he said.
