Hunting and habitat loss remain threats to the national bird's population, according to Dr. Jason Ibanez of the Philippine Eagle Foundation.

"Our effort is to make sure that these threats are controlled in places where the Philippine eagles are nesting. Part of the strategy is of course education campaign. We're also working with communities living close to Philippine eagle habitats," he said.
