MANILA - The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) on Tuesday urged malls to close its vehicle entrances along EDSA to ease traffic during the holiday rush.

(We are asking mall operators to help us and manage traffic inside their stores instead of waiting for our plea to close their entrances.)

(If traffic inside their mall is already heavy, they should close their entrances so it will not affect our main thoroughfares, especially EDSA.)

At least 17 malls are located along EDSA, which runs from Caloocan City to Pasay City, the MMDA earlier said. Entry points for these malls have been a common source of gridlocks, it added.

The MMDA earlier suggested to start mall hours by 11 a.m., and the deliveries of goods by 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. to "reduce the volume of delivery trucks."
