MANILA - The Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said Monday it would ask mall operators to adjust operating hours to help ease traffic this holiday season.
Malls along EDSA will be asked to open at 11 a.m. and close at 11 p.m. "as soon as possible," MMDA operations supervisor Bong Nebrija said.
"Kooperasyon lang po talaga ang hinihiling namin sa mga mall owners," Nebrija told radio DZMM.
(We're just asking for cooperation from mall owners.)
At least 17 malls are located along EDSA, which runs from Caloocan City to Pasay City. Entry points for these malls have been a common source of gridlocks.
The MMDA will also ask malls to defer from holding mall-wide sale events starting November, Nebrija said.
