Fifth generation mobile connectivity or 5G is the next big thing in telecoms industry, and tech journalists were given a glimpse into its potential at the recently held Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain.

Tony Velasquez of ANC's Future Perfect Tech Shorts notes that with speeds of up to 20 gigabits per second and latency of 1 millisecond, the 5G standard makes possible cloud based virtual reality apps and smart cars with autonomous driving, among other things.

Aside from 5G, artificial intelligence was also on display in many of the high-end gadgets unveiled at MWC.
