MANILA – In a social media showdown, Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte and his 17-year-old daughter swapped curses and accusations Friday in a fight that has drawn a virtual audience of thousands.

President Rodrigo Duterte’s eldest son gave his teen daughter Isabelle a public dressing down, taking to Facebook to respond to her angry posts on an alleged mauling incident involving a close friend.

The incident came just days after the President himself defended his grandchild from social media backlash over her pre-debut photoshoot at the Malacañang Palace, which some felt was inappropriate.

In a post mostly in Visayan, Duterte called his daughter a “disgrace,” livid at how he felt Isabelle had disrespected him.

“Even if that person pimped you twice, I won't keep quiet! And if your mom and stepdad don’t care about you, I’m not like them! Not because I’m a Duterte but because I am a father!!! Change your last name if you want to! You don’t know how to respect! You are a disgrace,” he said, unclear on who the person was.

His post was a retort to Isabelle’s tweets Friday, publicly spewing anger at her father for allegedly laying a hand on someone. Circumstances remain unclear.

“Even if you hold a position in the city, you're not allowed to beat someone up!!! Even if you're in power, you can't hurt a person!!! You hurt a human being!!! Not just a human being, but a child!!! Even if you're well known, you can’t do things like that!!! Even if you’re a Duterte, it's not acceptable,” her tweet read in Visayan.

In a followup blow, the teen said: “My dad f**** up my Christmas every year. What a time to be alive,” she said.

On Facebook, Isabelle apologized to an unnamed friend who she said is currently in hospital. She was scant on details.

"My friend, who is now in the hospital, is a good friend of mine since we were 7th grade," the post read.

"My friend's family has shown respect to me and my mother over the years, I'm quite sure considering that my friend is also coming from a respectable family my friend is decent enough to keep an image far from what my friend is accused of," she said.

In his response that included screenshots of Isabelle’s rant, Duterte lashed back, taunting his daughter about her social media fame.

"Go to school so your brain won't go blank. You don't know how to listen because you’re supposedly popular? Popular on what Belle? Popular on disrespecting your father??! Just wait 'til I die so you will be free from me! Pray for it," he said.

"FIX YOUR F****** LIFE FIRST before I will stop “f****** up” your Christmas every year," he added.

Duterte said he knew that the public word war would embarrass the family but added that he chose to do so to reach out to his “millennial” daughter.

As of this posting, Duterte's post has been shared more than 7,000 times and has drawn more than 16,000 reactions.

On the comment thread, he even made reference to the “dilawan” or those of the “yellow” or oppositionist political persuasion.

“Pasikatin ang gustong sumikat....magpakasawa kayo mga DILAWAN HAHAHA (Let’s make popular someone who wants to be popular. Go crazy, yellows) ” he said.
