MANILA -- ONE atomweight MMA world champion Stamp Fairtex will soon find out who she will take on, when she returns to action following a torn meniscus.

Her good friend and former training partner Denice Zamboanga will be up against Alyona Rassohyna for the interim atomweight MMA world title on October 5 at ONE Fight Night 25: Eersel vs. Nicolas II. The showdown takes place at the iconic Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

Stamp, a three-sport world champion, is familiar with both competitors. Aside from being close friends with Zamboanga, she has faced Rassohyna twice -- splitting their matches.

"I'm excited for it," said Stamp of the upcoming bout. "I think it's a good fight."

"I know both of them. Denice is my friend and I've fought Alyonna twice. Fans can definitely expect an entertaining fight from these two," she added. "They're both very strong and have good IQ."

That being said, Stamp is confident that Zamboanga will get the breakthrough. The Filipina star has repeatedly fallen short in her world title aspirations, suffering close losses while also being put in situations beyond her control including injuries and fight postponements.

This time around, Stamp believes that she and Zamboanga are on a collision course when she is cleared for action.

"For me, I think she can win," Stamp said when asked about Zamboanga's chances against Rassohyna.

However, Stamp isn't quite convinced that Zamboanga has made strides in her game, especially after seeing her previous match against Noelle Grandjean in June.

"Speaking of improvement, I think she isn't different from what she was when she fought Noelle," said the Thai star. "She's always been good at boxing. I saw that with Noelle. However, I don't think she has made significant improvements in her performance."

Stamp was supposed to defend her title against Zamboanga at ONE 167 in June, but suffered a torn meniscus during her training camp that forced her to withdraw from the highly-anticipated bout.

Grandjean stepped in to take Stamp's place, and Zamboanga went on to beat her via unanimous decision.
