MANILA — For the second straight season, University of Santo Tomas' explosive spiker Josh Ybañez is the UAAP men's volleyball Most Valuable Player (MVP).

The Golden Spikers star, who averaged 23.5 points (1st in league scoring) during the elimination round, was awarded the Season 86 MVP trophy after steering UST to its second-straight championship appearance. He bested National University's Nico Almendras for the league's top individual honor.

In Season 85, Ybañez earned MVP as well as Rookie of the Year honors, becoming only the second player to pull off the feat in the men's division after Marck Espejo of the Ateneo de Manila University in Season 76.

Meanwhile, NU's Jade Disquitado was named as the Season 86 Rookie of the Year.

On the other hand, Martin Bugaoan of Far Eastern University and Nath Del Pilar of De La Salle University were respectively hailed as the First and Second Best Middle Blockers.

Another set of NU stars in Leo Aringo and Owa Retamar were also rewarded for their stellar play in Season 86 as the former was named as the Best Opposite Hitter, while the latter received the Best Setter Award.

Finally, La Salle’s Menard Guerrerro is named as the Season 86 Best Libero.
