MANILA -- For former two-time ONE lightweight MMA world champion Eduard Folayang, it's time for Denice Zamboanga to write her name in the annals of Philippine mixed martial arts.

Zamboanga will be in action on June 8 against Stamp Fairtex for the ONE Atomweight MMA World Title, in what is undoubtedly the biggest fight of her career. The showdown will be the main event of ONE 167, taking place at the Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

No Filipina has won a world championship in MMA, and Zamboanga can make history should she pull off the upset against Stamp.

Folayang, a legend in Philippine MMA, is excited for the 27-year-old to claim her moment.

"It would be a huge honor for the Philippines if Denice wins the World Championship. It will be historic. For sure she'll inspire a lot of women to follow in her footsteps," he said.

The Lions Nation MMA founder knows that Zamboanga's game plan is a no-brainer in this match -- Folayang believes that "The Menace" should drag Stamp into an "ugly" fight and keep the champion close with her wrestling, clinch work, and ground game.

"A few things I'm looking at in this match for Denice is her wrestling and ground game against Stamp," Folayang said.

"It will all boil down to formulating a good game plan entering this fight. They already know that Stamp's a proven striker, so it's all about formulating counters for her strengths."

While finding a solution to Stamp's striking game is easier said than done, Folayang is confident in the team that Zamboanga has. Her brother, ONE bantamweight Drex Zamboanga, and fiance, ONE Friday Fights rising star Fritz Biagtan, is with her in training camp.

"One good thing about Denice is that she's surrounded herself with the right people in getting that belt. That will help her a lot," said Folayang. "For as long as she keeps her faith that God will give her the strength to win, and she comes in with a solid preparation, she'll have her shot."
