MANILA – James Yap is not eyeing a Magnolia return in the foreseeable future.

Yap revealed in an interview with ABS-CBN News on Thursday that returning to the Purefoods-Magnolia franchise is not on his mind while saying that it is beyond his control.

"I don't think mangyayari iyon. Once kasi na-trade na, 'di ko na ine-expect. Me, personally, 'di ko naman na iniisip na gusto ko pang bumalik," the 41-year-old hooper said. "Kasi hindi na natin hawak 'yon, eh."

"'Yung mga fans, gusto nilang bumalik ako. Pero for me, gusto kong sabihin sa kanila na 'di na natin hawak 'yon. Hayaan na natin. Happy naman tayo ngayon." he added.

Yap won all of his seven championships with Purefoods-Magnolia, including his two MVP trophies—and some fans have said that it might be fitting for him to join the illustrious franchise once more.

He also won four Finals MVPs including a coveted grand slam with the team in 2014.

A blockbuster trade saw him joining the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters after getting swapped for another star guard Paul Lee in 2016.

However, ROS only reached the semifinals at best during his stint there.

Yap also bared that he has no bad blood with his former team, Rain or Shine.

"No problem naman with the management, sobrang bait nila. Gano'n talaga ang buhay basketball," the former Elasto Painter said.

For now, he will be staying put with the Blackwater Bossing, whom he already joined for practice on Thursday before he officially signs with the team on Friday.

Team owner Dioceldo Sy formally announced on his Instagram Thursday that he is suiting up for the Bossing.

The PBA champion and for a long time the "face of the league" will be bringing his massive professional basketball experience to the young players of Blackwater.
