MANILA, Philippines – The PBA announced Thursday that the proceeds of the Game 1 of the 2024 Governors' Cup Finals will go to the victims of severe tropical storm Kristine.

League chairman Ricky Vargas and vice chairman Alfrancis Chua made the announcement during the press conference of the championship series at the Enderun Colleges in Taguig City.

Game 1 between the TNT Tropang Giga and Barangay Ginebra San Miguel is set on Sunday, October 27.

"Nag-usap kami ni commissioner [Willie Marcial], chairman [Ricky Vargas], we decided 'yung Sunday's game, 'yung proceeds no'n lahat ido-donate namin. Lahat 'yon," Chua said.

"Nandito tayo, preparing for Sunday's game. And them, they're there preparing kung may matitirhan sila or makakain pa. Ipagdasal natin sila. Kung sino pang gustong tumulong, nananawagan po ako na tulungan natin ang ating mga kapatid," he added.

The donation will be made through TV5's Alagang Kapatid Foundation, according to Vargas.

Kristine continues its onslaught in the country and wind signal no. 3 has been hoisted over several parts of Northern Luzon.
