MANILA, Philippines – At least four players from the Philippine Superliga (PSL) are being considered as guest players by various Thai clubs when they compete in the Thai-Denmark Super League in March.

PSL president Ramon Suzara on Monday confirmed that Foton's Jaja Santiago, F2 Logistics' Abigail Maraño and Kim Fajardo, and RC Cola-Army's Jovelyn Gonzaga are all being eyed by Thai clubs for the week-long tourney, which serves as the ultimate battle among champion clubs in Thailand.

According to Suzara, some ranking executives of the Thailand Volleyball Association reached out to him and inquired as to the availability of the players during the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) meeting in Bangkok last week.

Suzara informed the officials that Santiago and Fajardo – both of whom will be leading their teams in the upcoming UAAP wars – will not be available, while Gonzaga is unsure as she is set to undergo an eight-month military training at the Training and Doctrine Center of the Philippine Army in Capas, Tarlac.

Maraño, who has been the league's First Best Middle Blocker for three consecutive conferences now, is thus the only player available, although Suzara said he can still refer additional players depending on the needs of the Thai clubs.

"This is because of our very good relationship with our Thai counterparts," he explained. "They want to acquire four of our stars for the Thai Super League in March. It's just a one-week tournament, so it's very possible for us to send players there."

"They've been very generous in sending us players, so we might as well return the favor," he added.

Thai volleyball officials are also looking at tapping Dindin Santiago-Manabat, although it will depend on how she will regain her condition from now until March.

"They are very updated on what is going on around the PSL. They were impressed with how Dindin played in the Grand Prix, and saw her potential to regain her good shape," Suzara said. "They told me they would closely monitor her situation and give me a call, if ever."

"But they are free to tap any players from our league," he stressed. "This would be a very good break for us, because we can gain whatever knowledge and volleyball technology our regional neighbor has, and adapt it to our system."
