MANILA, Philippines – Former University of Santo Tomas (UST) head coach Pido Jarencio has made it clear that he wants to return his old post with the Growling Tigers.

After confirming to the Varsitarian last week that he wants to return as head coach if the position is vacant, Jarencio is now saying that all the school has to do is to pick up the phone.

"I'm only one call away, I'll be there to save your day," Jarencio tweeted, adding the hashtag "PusoPridePalaban."

In the first week of December, he tweeted: "Let's bring back the glory!" triggering speculation.

Jarencio led the Growling Tigers to the UAAP men's basketball title in 2006, and remains as beloved as ever in España.

He led UST to two more Finals appearances in 2012 and 2013, but lost in both instances. He left the team in 2014 to coach GlobalPort in the PBA, and now serves as the franchise's alternate governor.

The Growling Tigers returned to the UAAP Finals in 2015 under the guidance of Bong dela Cruz, but slumped to their worst record in the Final Four era -- a 3-11 slate -- in the recently concluded Season 79 tournament where UST served as the host school.
