In one of the most emotional sports moments of the year, former friends and longtime rivals Magic Johnson and Isiah Thomas finally ended their long-running feud.

Johnson and Thomas were good friends early in their NBA careers, but their relationship fell apart for several reasons, including back-to-back duels in the NBA finals in 1988 and 1989.

It was later revealed that Johnson had conspired to keep Thomas off the 1992 "Dream Team" - the U.S. basketball team that competed in the Barcelona Olympics - as the Lakers legend believed that the Detroit Piston guard spread rumors about him following the revelation that he was HIV positive.

But during an episode of "Players Only Monthly" on NBA TV, the two guards finally ended a decades-long feud.

"You are my brother. Let me apologize if I hurt you, that we haven't been together and God is good to bring us back together," Johnson said.

The two players exchanged an emotional embrace, and the moment was widely hailed on social media by athletes from all sports.
