MANILA, Philippines – San Miguel head coach Leo Austria is ready to welcome any player to the Beermen – and that includes high-scoring guard Terrence Romeo.

Romeo, a four-time PBA All-Star, appears to be headed to San Miguel after the franchise sent Brian Heruela, David Semerad, and a draft pick to TNT in exchange for the player.

Sports website Spin reported that the trade papers have already been sent to the PBA Commissioner's Office as of Monday.

Austria had been reluctant to discuss the trade on Sunday evening, noting that nothing has been finalized yet. It was only on Sunday afternoon that TNT confirmed that Romeo had been placed on the trading block, after the guard missed several weeks of practice.

However, Austria acknowledged that Romeo is a talented player, something he proved in his time with Gilas Pilipinas.

"As a player, unahin muna natin ang mga magagandang ano sa kanya, dahil si Terrence, alam natin especially noong naglaro siya sa Gilas, he's one of the most admired player sa Gilas at the time," said Austria.

"And with his talent, hindi mawawala sa kanya 'yun. Any team naman, nangangailangan ng tulad ng talent niya," he added.

Without confirming that Romeo was SMB-bound, Austria stressed that a player of his caliber will always be welcome to the team.

"Everybody naman sa akin, kung sino dumating, welcome 'yan. And along the way, makikita mo kung talagang para sa amin o hindi," he said.

Spin also reported that SMB is acquiring Ronald Tubid from Columbian Dyip in exchange for Keith Agovida. It will be a homecoming for Tubid, who was sent to Columbian last year as part of the trade for the No. 1 pick in the 2017 PBA Rookie Draft.
