MANILA -- Although former world champion Manny Pacquiao remains mum about his boxing plans for 2018, he assured his fans that he will still fight.

In an interview with ABS-CBN’s Dyan Castillejo, the former eight-division world champion said his camp is negotiating for his comeback next year.

“Siguro mga January malalaman natin,” said the fighting senator, who graced the launch of a new grilled chicken store in Quezon City on Wednesday.

Although he did not mention any possible opponent, Pacquiao said he is likely to fight again in the first half of 2018. “By April may laban na,” he said.

The last time he fought was in July 2017, when he lost the crown in a controversial upset against Australia’s Jeff Horn in Brisbane.

Pacquiao initially wanted a rematch, but didn’t want to fight Horn again in Australia.

Castillejo also asked Pacquiao about his supposed call out to MMA superstar Conor McGregor.

“Wala pa kay McGregor,” was the boxer’s short response.
