So there we have it, the Fighting Maroons certainly cannot claim their elusive second UAAP basketball title, as what their rather hopeful "atin 'to" battle cry suggested — not yet anyway.
A great performance from Thirdy Ravena, who was later named finals MVP, scoring 38 points, ensured that the supremely gifted and well-drilled Ateneo Blue Eagles were named champions again.
Reactions from both camps have been similarly appreciative, despite the contrasting result. Most of the UP faithful, even with the overall grateful mood, will wake up to a rather alien feeling of losing a UAAP finals, given that this is their first appearance in 32 years.
The Ateneo supporters, meanwhile, will relish the familiar joy of winning back-to-back titles, celebrating yet another dominant outing for their collegiate basketball team.
