MANILA, Philippines — Weightlifter Kristel Macrohon produced another gold for the Philippines after a thrilling finish in the women’s 71kg division at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium on Wednesday.

Macrohon lifted a combined 216 kg, with her final lift of 123 kg in the clean and jerk proving vital to her win.

Vietnam’s Nguyen Thi Van had a chance to break the Filipina’s heart, but she could not lift 125 kg in her final attempt. She settled for silver, with a combined lift of 214 kg.

Indonesia’s Tsabitha Ramanadi claimed the bronze with a lift of 203 kg.

It is the second weightlifting gold for the Philippines in the 30th Southeast Asian Games after Hidilyn Diaz’s triumph.
