MANILA, Philippines – Myla Pablo underscored her commitment to the Pocari Sweat Lady Warriors as she formally signed a lucrative five-year deal with the team on Tuesday.

Pablo was a vital part of Pocari's championship winning team in the V-League's 13th season. She earned Finals MVP honors in the Open Conference, when the Lady Warriors outlasted Air Force to win the crown in just their very first stint in the league.

She also shone in their stint in the Reinforced Conference, despite having to take a backseat to their imports when they won the title against Bureau of Customs.

"Siyempre, sobrang saya kasi may trust sila sa akin," Pablo said in a brief press conference. "'Di ako nagdalawang isip, kasi alam kong aalagaan nila ako. Nagtitiwala ako sa kanila."

"Nagulat din ako, kasi sa ibang teams, one year lang," she added. "Isa ako sa player na binigyan, kaya sobrang saya and thankful lang ako kay God and sa mga coaches."

"'Di ko sila bibiguin," she promised.

The terms of the deal were not disclosed, but Pablo received a white Hyundai Accent as part of her signing bonus.

For Pocari Sweat team manager Eric Ty, signing Pablo to a long-term deal was a no-brainer. "We looked at her age, we looked at her capability, and we looked at her durability," Ty explained.

"We looked at her commitment to the team. She was the one to approach us and say that she will never leave our team," he revealed. "A spark lit between our management committee and we thought, 'If she wants to stay, why don't we want her to stay?' And we thought that we'll build around her."

Signing Pablo is just the first step in Pocari's goal to retain their championship core, which also includes Michele Gumabao and Melissa Gohing.

"We'll try our best to preserve and bring the players back, and may be sign a few more players to longer term contracts," said Ty.
