MANILA - Meggie Ochoa added another gold medal to her collection after ruling the seniors -49 kilogram division of the JuJutsu World Championships in Malmo, Sweden, on Sunday morning.

According to the Jiu-Jitsu Federation of the Philippines, this makes Ochoa the first Asian to win gold in the Worlds.

Ochoa defeated Canada's Ni Ni Vicky Hoang in the final, 2-0, to secure the gold medal.

En route to the finals, she Morgane Houx of France, 4-0, Anna Augustyn-Mitkowska of Poland, 2-0, then submitted Laetitia Boes of France in the semifinal.

Prior to competing in the Worlds, the 28-year-old Ochoa won a bronze medal in the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Ochoa was the lone Filipino to make the podium in the Worlds.
