Former Congressman Jose “Peping” Cojuangco secured a fourth term as president of the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) after winning the polls unopposed.

Cojuangco garnered 26 out of 37 votes cast by members present during Friday’s general assembly at the Wack Wack Golf and Country Club, according to Spin.

The former Tarlac congressman ran without an opponent after boxing representative Ricky Vargas was disqualified by the POC election committee from running.

His ally, Joey Romasanta (representing karatedo and volleyball), became first vice-president, while Jeff Tamayo was elected second vice-president.

Julian Camacho (representing wushu) was chosen treasurer, followed by Jonne Go (representing canoe kayak) as auditor.

Six voting members, including Vargas, were absent.

The Association of Boxing Alliances of the Philippines (ABAP) president earlier sought a temporary restraining order (TRO) to block the polls due to what it claimed was an irregularity in Vargas' disqualification.

The Pasig City Regional Trial Court, however, denied their petition, paving the way for Cojuangco’s re-election.

Cojuangco has been POC president since 2004.
