MANILA, Philippines – For Paul Lee, playing his first game in a Star Hotshot uniform brought back memories of his rookie season.

Lee was sent to Star in a blockbuster trade that saw former PBA MVP James Yap land in Rain or Shine. For both players, it marked the first time that they will be playing for teams other than the franchise that drafted them.

Lee, who was drafted by Rain or Shine in 2011 and went on to become the Rookie of the Year, had a solid debut for the Hotshots with 12 points and 10 rebounds. However, he was also responsible for nine of Star's whopping 30 turnovers in the contest.

"Excited ako, siyempre," Lee said of his debut for the Hotshots. "Parang rookie ulit eh, parang ganoon ang feeling ko."

In Lee's debut for Star, they squandered a nine-point lead in the final quarter and lost to San Miguel Beer, 88-96.

Lee's first game for Rain or Shine back in October 2011 was decidedly more impressive. He came off the bench in the first quarter of their game against Ginebra to help the Elasto Painters claw their way back from a 2-11 deficit, and eventually finished with 21 points, eight assists, and five rebounds in a 94-93 victory.

There is not much of a difference between Yeng Guiao and Chito Victolero's system, noted Lee, but he is still going through a period of adjustment nevertheless.

"Nakuha ko naman 'yung rhythm ko (against San Miguel)," said Lee. "Next time, makakapag-adjust (ako.)"

"'Di naman makikita sa one game lang 'yun. 'Yung patience ko, andoon naman, and 'yung patience ng buong team at ni Coach Chito, andoon din. So 'yun ang pinaka-importante para sa akin."

Lee and the Hotshots will try to secure their first win on December 2 against the GlobalPort Batang Pier, and he anticipates a better, less error-strewn performance then.

"Kailangan ko ma-involve 'yung buong team," he said. "Kailangan, pagtulong-tulungan talaga namin."
