MANILA, Philippines -- San Miguel has indefinitely suspended three of its players -- Arwind Santos, Kelly Nabong, and Ronald Tubid -- for their roles in a tussle during their team practice last November 17, the organization announced on Wednesday.

In a statement, San Miguel said that the conflict among the players "has been resolved, and the incident occurred away from the public eye."

However, the players are still being sanctioned as "the San Miguel organization does not tolerate unsportsmanlike behavior."

It was reported last weekend that a scuffle broke out in San Miguel's practice involving the three players and their injured import, Dez Wells.

The news come as San Miguel is set to play TNT KaTropa in a crucial game on Wednesday night at the Ynares Center in Antipolo. The Beermen currently have a 6-4 win-loss record and are gunning for a twice-to-beat advantage in the quarterfinals.

"Basketball is a physical game where emotions can run high, but we believe that PBA players have to be held to a higher standard of professionalism and sportsmanship at all times," the team said.

"It is for this reason that we’ve come to this decision, even if it impacts our bid for a second franchise grand slam," they added.

"Our commitment now, moving forward, is that we will work doubly hard and play our very best, for our fans and for the organization."
