One of the most dominant players that the UAAP has seen in the last 20 years, Santos led FEU to three UAAP titles before going to have a successful PBA career as well. With the professional league on a break before its 43rd season, however, Santos took the opportunity to watch the Tamaraws play in the Season 80 Final Four against Ateneo de Manila University last Sunday.

Wearing his famed No. 19 FEU jersey, Santos was part of a huge green-and-gold crowd that cheered ecstatically as the Tamaraws stunned the Blue Eagles, 80-67, to force a winner-takes-all game for the last spot in the finals.

Making FEU's win all the more enjoyable for Santos is that this current crop of Tamaraws do not have one player who can be readily identified as a superstar. While FEU's title team in Season 79 had a "Big Three" of Mike Tolomia, Mac Belo and Roger Pogoy, this year's team feature a mix of veterans and up-and-coming players, any one of whom can step up in a given game.

This doesn't mean, however, that Santos is surprised to see the Tams make it to the Final 4.

"Noong una, tinitingnan ko 'yung line-up nila noong start ng season. Sabi ko, 'Puwede 'tong mag-semifinals.' Ngayon, nakapasok na. Puwede pang maka-finals," he bared.

It remains to be seen if Santos will also be able to watch Wednesday's do-or-die game, but what is for sure is that he will be in full support of the Tamaraws.

"Dito ako umusbong," Santos said of FEU. "Ako naman, lagi kong ibibigay ang oras ko para sa FEU."
