MANILA, Philippines — The Far Eastern University (FEU) Cheering Squad is beyond ecstatic when it ended up securing a top-three finish in the UAAP Cheerdance Competition on Saturday.

FEU placed second behind the National University Pep Squad, which won its fourth straight title at the Araneta Coliseum.

FEU captain Adrian Angeles said the team trained for six months and all the hard work that went with trying to end four trophy-less years paid off.

FEU did not have a perfect run though, as the squad committed mistakes during its performance.

"The two people I was holding moved forward so I fell awkwardly. Even though my head bounced (off the floor), I still kept competing because I knew I really needed to finish our routine. We worked hard for it," said Jovi Verceles, the FEU cheerdancer who figured in the spill.

It was FEU's fourth second-place finish in cheerdance competition. The squad has won two championships and nine third-place finishes.
