MANILA, Philippines – Filipino footballer Phil Younghusband on Monday announced his retirement from the sport.
In an Instagram post, the 32-year-old Fil-British striker said he was "hanging up his boots."
"Thank you to my bosses, my coaches, team mates, competitors and all the supporters who have been part of my journey," he said. "See you all soon in a new adventure."
Younghusband is the top goalscorer in Philippine history, with 52 goals in 108 caps.
His 50th international goal was a penalty kick in the Philippines' 2-1 victory over Tajikistan that secured the Azkals' passage to the 2019 Asian Cup.
