MANILA -- CJ Cansino has suffered a season-ending injury.

According to MRI results gotten on Monday, University of Sto. Tomas’ super rookie suffered an ACL tear in his left knee.

He is set to undergo operation on Thursday.

Cansino went down with the injury during the second quarter of their matchup with the University of the Philippines last Saturday.

His left knee seemingly buckled as he was trying to finish a fastbreak for the Growling Tigers. Unfortunately, he instead fell to the floor and took some time to get back up.

UST’s 19-year-old promising player had to be helped back to the locker room and not long after, he and his family headed to the hospital to have his left knee checked.

Post-game, head coach Aldin Ayo said that whatever results there would be, Cansino will no longer be suiting up in their season closing contest opposite Ateneo de Manila University on Wednesday.

“He has a good season,” Ayo said.

The 6-foot-1 guard ends his impressive rookie campaign with per game counts of 12.8 points in 44 percent shooting, 10.3 rebounds, and 3.6 assists. He also became the first rookie since 2003 to tally a triple-double.
