MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Azkals successfully signed off their preparations for next week's AFF Suzuki Cup by repeating over higher-ranked Kyrgyzstan on Wednesday in a friendly at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.

Misagh Bahadoran scored the lone goal of the match.

The Kyrgyz were the busier team in offense, registering a total of 10 shots at the goal and securing 10 corners.

But the defensive backline composed of Daizuke Sato, Manny Ott, Amani Aguinaldo and Phil Younghusband managed to hold up and fend off the Kyrgyzstan attack.

In the 65th minute, the Azkals intercepted the ball, which landed on Iain Ramsay.

Ramsay ran toward the penalty box, found Bahadoran who fired the ball into the net.

It was the second time the 124th-ranked Philippines defeated Kyrgyzstan, ranked 99th in the world

The first was during a friendly in Bishkek that ended with the Filipinos winning 2-1 on goals from Kevin Ingreso and Bahadoran.

The Azkals will participate in the Suzuki Cup, which kicks off November 19.
