Jessie Vargas may be taller than Manny Pacquiao, but it's not as if the Filipino former world champion hasn't overcome an opponent with a distinct height advantage.

“I will try to establish my will over (Vargas) early in the fight. I will need to dictate the terms early. Freddie and I have three game plans for him,” Pacquiao said, according to a report posted on the Boxing Scene website.

“He is a young and strong champion. His height and reach are also factors that I will need to overcome.”

At 27 years old, Vargas is 10 years younger than the fighting senator and is taller by four and a half inches (Vargas is 5'10" while Pacquiao is 5'5-1/2"). The American also enjoys a four-inch advantage (71 inches, 67 inches) in reach.

“I do not want to give anything away but, if you watch my fights against Oscar de la Hoya and Antonio Margarito, you will see that my speed and footwork will be my key weapons in establishing my plan,” Pacquiao said.

Pacquiao fought the 5'10-1/2" de la Hoya back in 2008, pummeling the aging boxing legend in eight rounds before de la Hoya's corner threw in the towel.

In 2010, the Filipino faced an even taller fighter in Margarito. The Tijuana Tornado towered at 5'11" but proved no match for the fleet-footed Pacquiao, who took a unanimous decision win after 12 brutal rounds.
