Aung La N Sang acknowledged he idolized Filipino heavyweight king Brandon Vera when the Myanmar fighter was an MMA novice.

N Sang, the ONE middleweight and light-heavyweight champion, will go up against Vera, the man N Sang looked up to but who will now try to snatch the latter title in ONE: Century in Tokyo Sunday.

“I want to thank Brandon Vera for asking me for this fight. I’ve been a big fan of his since I was in college 10 years ago,” said N Sang.

“I’ve been training for over six months now, and training has gone very well. I hope to put on the best performance of my life Sunday.”

Vera, who wants to become a 2-division champion, said he is excited to be fighting in Japan.

“I’m the ONE heavyweight world champion, which I will be until I retire. Now, I am chasing after the ONE light heavyweight world title against a man who is cut from the same cloth,” he said.

“This bout means more to me than anything else in my career.”

Also fighting on Sunday are Kevin Belingon, who will attempt to wrest back the bantamweight title from Bibiano Fernandes, and Danny Kingad who will collide with MMA legend Demetrious Johnson in the ONE Flyweight World Grand Prix Championship Final.

“This is my fourth match with Bibiano Fernandes. I trained very hard for this one and I encourage everyone to watch my fight and don’t miss this historic event,” said Belingon.

Kingad said he plans to upset highly favored Johnson.

“It’s a dream come true to share the ONE Circle with a legend in Demetrious Johnson, but I believe I have the chance to beat him. If I beat him, it will be the greatest accomplishment of my career,” said Kingad.
