MANILA, Philippines – Ateneo-Fudgee Bar is looking to grab the solo lead in the Spikers' Turf Open Conference when it faces Instituto Estetico Manila on Tuesday at the Blue Eagle Gym.

The Blue Eagles, now playing sans Marck Espejo and Ish Polvorosa, drew a combined 37-hit output from Tony Koyfman, Chumason Njigha and John Rivera as they swept newcomer Fury Blazing Hitters, 25-15, 25-17, 25-15, in their debut.

Meanwhile, Cignal and PLDT also came through with a pair of 3-1 triumphs over Prima-FEU and IEM, respectively, in last Saturday's conference-opener.

The Blue Eagles are expecting a tough challenge from IEM in their 3 p.m. encounter, with rookie coach Timmy Sto. Tomas looking to draw a sustained charge from his crew, including veterans Ron Medalla and Gian Glorioso, and new starting setter Lawrence Magadia.

IEM, for its part, hopes to bounce back from their loss to PLDT. The Volley Masters will bank on power hitters Jason Canlas and Mark Enciso with Lorenze Santos, Ferdian Guanzon, Jonathan Sorio and skipper Jeffrey Jimenez.

Army and Navy, meanwhile, try to get their campaign going as they tangle in the 11 a.m. opener of another triplebill that also features the Air Force-Sta. Elena duel at 1 p.m.
