MANILA, Philippines – Jose Rizal University (JRU) will try to hold on to the third spot in the league standings even as Colegio de San Juan de Letran tries to catch up as they collide on Thursday in the NCAA Season 93 men's basketball tournament at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

The Heavy Bombers are coming off a painful 109-115 double overtime loss to Arellano University last week, but remain at No. 3 with their 6-4 win-loss record.

The Knights, for their part, are tied in fourth spot along with San Sebastian College with identical 5-5 slates. Like JRU, Letran is also coming off a loss as they bowed to University of Perpetual Help, 82-88, last Friday.

A win for JRU would allow the Heavy Bombers to keep their current ranking, but a Letran win will vault them to a share of third place.

Game time is at 2 p.m.

JRU coach Vergel Meneses admits that their loss to the Chiefs was a painful one, but they have to move on.

"There were some breaks late in the game that did not go our way," said Meneses. "But we should move on, because this is a long tournament."

"We can't afford to dwell too much on the past," he added.

Meanwhile, Emilio Aguinaldo College (4-6) will look to break out of a three-team logjam at No. 6 when it faces off with cellar-dwelling Mapua University (1-10) at 4 p.m.

The Generals are tied with Perpetual Help and Arellano with 4-6 win-loss slates.

They lost their game to San Sebastian, 69-81, last Friday and should be eager to bounce back against the reeling Cardinals.
