University of the Philippines made a more experienced Far Eastern University side crumble under pressure, as the Lady Maroons won 25-20, 25-18, 23-25, 20-25, 15-13 to take the trophy of the Premier Volleyball League Season 2 Collegiate Conference, their first major title in 36 years.
The sea of maroons’ loud celebration drowned the heavy downpour that relentlessly pounded the roof of the FilOil Flying V Centre as history unfolded before their eyes.
After squandering a two-set, UP lead flirted with disaster in the fifth, trailing 13-7.
But Isa Molde, named tournament MVP in the afternoon then finals MVP after the game, willed her team back with a thrilling 8-0 run capped by a service ace from Ayel Estranero.
With UP's win, Adamson copped third place over University of Santo Tomas.
