Interim coach Eric Gonzales said TNT still has a lot of work to do even after its breakthrough win over Columbian Dyip on Sunday.

Gonzales is filling in for Nash Racela, who is on an indefinite leave from coaching duties following 3 straight losses.

With its 118-114 overtime win over the Dyip, the KaTropa somehow gained a measure of confidence before heading to a 20-day break.

But Gonzales said the team still has to recover from a 1-3 record.

"Kailangan pa namin mag-prepare pa kasi nasa ilalim pa kami," Gonzales said in an article posted on the PBA website.

"Mahirap po talaga ang sitwasyon namin, wala namang magic e. Kailangan talaga magtulong-tulong."

Gonzales is a long-time deputy of Racela.

They have been together since 2011 when they worked as assistant coaches to Olsen Racela on the national U-16 team. Gonzales was a deputy when Nash Racela coached the Far Eastern University Tamaraws to the 2015 UAAP championship.

Boosting Gonzales' confidence as a rookie coach was Racela’s encouragement.

"Si coach Nash in-encourage din niya rin ako. Just take charge, sabi niyang ganun," he said.
