The Philippines men's national team tries to regain a measure of respect when the Filipinos take on Serbia in a preliminary game in the 2019 FIBA World Cup on Monday.

Game time is at 7:30 p.m.

Gilas Pilipinas took a haymaker on Saturday, losing to Italy by 46 points, a match seen live by President Rodrigo Duterte and other Philippine government officials at Foshan city's International Sports & Cultural Arena.

Head coach Yeng Guiao and his side, ranked No. 31 in the world, were overmatched against the Italians, 13th in the FIBA rankings.

They'll be up against a more formidable opponent in Serbia, the No. 4 team in the world that has four NBA players on its roster and is a favorite to win the World Cup title.

Can Guiao and co. give Serbia a good fight? Or will All-NBA First Team center Nikola Jokic and the Serbs cruise to another win, subsequently securing their place in the second round?
