MANILA, Philippines -- The official first round schedule for UAAP Season 79 men's and women's basketball has been released by the host University of Santo Tomas Wednesday.

The schedules were released with just a little over a week before Season 79 kicks off at the UST grounds. The opening ceremony will be on September 3, Saturday, at 5:30 PM.

Defending champions Far Eastern University Tamaraws will begin its title-retention bid against the heavily favored De La Salle University Green Archers on September 7, Wednesday.

Host school and last year's runner up UST Growling Tigers will face the Ateneo Blue Eagles in their opening match on September 4, Sunday.

All men and women games are scheduled at Mall of Asia Arena and Smart-Araneta Coliseum.
