After the Philippines came up with its worst finish in the FIBA Asia Cup, many basketball fans naturally donned their hats as coaches and analysts after the fact.

Coach Chot Reyes tried to deaden the social-media noise with an Instagram post on Tuesday, thanking those who offered cheers and shutting down detractors.

"All shortcomings are mine, so all the bashers can chill," Reyes wrote.

"To those who continue supporting regardless - maraming maraming salamat! You don't know how much your messages of support mean to us.

Leaving Beirut in a bit. While we failed to get to the semis, I hope everyone acknowledges the effort & sacrifice these #GilasMen put forth. Despite the obstacles & difficulties of putting a team together, we continue to put our necks on the line. No excuses. All shortcomings are mine, so all the bashers can chill. The Philippines salvaged 7th place in the FIBA Asia Cup, its lowest finish since the 2009 FIBA Asia Championship where Gilas ended up 8th.
